Grey Gardens

So, I've spent my free time this week in Grey Gardens with Big and Little Edie Beale. I've watched Grey Gardens (the documentary chronicling the lives of the eccentric and fascinating mother and daughter, living together in their dilapidated mansion in East Hampton). I also watched Grey Gardens: the extended footage from the aforementioned documentary. It was the second release about the Beale women by the Maisle brothers.
I would have LOVED to have the chance to sit and talk with Little Edie. What a fascinating human being. Even with all of the familial obligations that she felt had stolen years from her. She never lost sight of her dream. And she lived every day as the character she truly was. Daydreaming and playing like a strange little girl. She was one of those rare few that make it through this hard life without having their dream stolen. She was like a thirteen year old in an old woman's body, flirty and excited about life and its beauty. Rent it! Become inspired...or fascinated...or both.
